Leigh has a flourishing WI which has been in existence for over 80 years and currently has a membership of around 36. The majority of our members live in Leigh but a number come from the surrounding villages including Chetnole and Yetminster.
Our meetings take place on the last Tuesday of every month in Leigh Village Hall. Meetings begin at 7.30pm which allows time for those members who work to be able to attend. At our monthly meetings we welcome guest speakers who introduce us to a number of varied topics. We also hold outings (non-members welcome), coffee mornings, we run a skittle team, a walking group, a lunch club, and we hold an annual Jumble Sale every spring.
Our members are also very much involved in village life in general, helping out with the Leigh Village Flower Show and the village Open Gardens event. Members are also part of the team which runs the Leigh Senior Citizens’ Luncheon Club which is held once a month.
We are always very happy to welcome new members.
Joining the WI gives you access to all of our lectures and social events (some extra charges may need to be paid), and you also receive the WI magazine which includes some very helpful discount vouchers.
Most of our monthly meetings/talks are also open to non-members for just £2.00 per person.
